Our proudest moment of the past year:
“Winning the second national place and winning the Walmart Special Competition.”
Biggest challenge from the past year:
“Gaining access to communities and building trust with the inhabitants. We achieved this through working with them and showing how we could positively impact their lives.”
Team described in one word:
A marketing major who plans to graduate in May 2021, Ximena found Enactus when she was invited to participate in a project the team was working on. After one year on the team, she serves as the Community Manager. The biggest challenge she has faced thus far is getting in touch with communities. “There are physical and emotional impediments that I had to overcome,” says Ximena. “But when you’re passionate about what you do, you can travel for hours and be able to connect with those who are most in need.” Her greatest accomplishment with her team is winning the 2018 National Competition and heading to San Jose this year. “I want to meet young people full of dreams and ideas and learn about what I can do to improve my country and the world.”

Rolando was looking for a meaningful experience during his college career. “I was curious about what [projects] the team was doing and it had a real impact on me,” says Rolando, who joined two and a half years ago. A mechatronics engineering major scheduled to graduate in June 2019, he says his greatest accomplishment to date has been seeing the results of their project, E-Tank, and being able to reduce the carbon footprint. The teams biggest challenge has been overcoming two previous defeats. “We developed resilience and we never gave up,” says Rolando. At Enactus World Cup, he is looking forward to meeting other teams, sharing experiences about the projects and watching other countries present.
