Our proudest moment of the past year:
Winning the Ford Mobility Innovation Challenge and the World Water Race, as it was the first time an Enactus team from Brazil won a global Enactus competition!

Biggest challenge from the past year:
Transforming our team from a simple group of students into a 100+-member-strong registered NGO, a change that required us to restructure our projects into social businesses, define and measure key indicators and improve team governance.

Team described in one word:
Resilience

Get to Know Us:

Sâmyla is an Architecture and Urbanism student who anticipates graduating in December 2022. She has been an Enactus member for one year; her daily routine consists in organizing the team’s activities. Sâmyla believes she was chosen to represent her team because she has been working on Project Costuraê for a year in the Community Department, where she works directly with the women the project benefits. “It was at Enactus that I discovered that my purpose was to change the reality of women in the Amazon.”

More about Sâmyla:

  • What I’m reading:  “Homens Imprudentemente Poéticos” (Imprudently Poetic Men), by Valter Hugo Mãe
  • Theme song:  “Sad, Mad or Bad” by Francisco and El Hombre
  • Who inspires me:  Chimamanda Ngozi Adichie
  • Enactus in one word:  Resilience
  • Best Enactus moment: Serving as presenter at the 2019 Enactus Brazil National Competition was certainly a high point for me. Being responsible for transmitting the emotions and the stories of my team’s communities and showcasing our year’s work to CEOs and corporate partners.
  • In five years, I will be… “…an Architect and Urbanist working on developing adapted housing in the Amazon.”
