World Water Race Returns in 2018
The World Water Race, empowered by Enactus, returns for an encore in 2018! On 1 March, Enactus teams around the world will be invited to participate in the race to create access to water and sanitation. Are you up to the challenge?
Last year, we had nearly 100 unique project submissions by Enactus teams in 25 countries, contributing to the advancement of Sustainable Development Goal 6: Clean Water & Sanitation. Project solutions ranged from water conservation to desalination, and sanitation to waste management. In 2017, through The Water Race:
– 117,517 people received new/improved access to safe and affordable drinking water
– 71,682 people received new/improved access to products/services that improve sanitation
– 1,757,385 liters of water were recycled and/or safely reused
– 61 business were created
– 268 jobs were created
Access to water and sanitation is still out of reach for much of the world. Some 2.4 billion people lack access to basic sanitation services, such as toilets or latrines. Water scarcity affects more than 40 percent of the global population and that number projected to rise—unless we step in.
This is your chance, along with 72,000+ Enactus students in our network of 1,730+ Enactus teams, to collaborate and compete to tackle this challenge. Student leaders, we know this is an opportunity you can’t pass up.

We’ll keep you updated on how to officially enter your projects in the very near future. Stay tuned!
Aside from making a commitment to water and sanitation, by joining the race you’ll have access to an online, collaborative community of Enactus students, faculty advisors and sponsors. You’ll be able to connect with other teams while sharing and gathering resources, and did we mention invaluable mentorship opportunities?
You’ll have the chance to compete in the World Water Race Impact Competition taking place at Enactus World Cup 2018 in San Jose, California, 9-11 October. Here, the top four teams will compete for up to $20,000 USD to scale their impact.
The race is on! It’s time to put your innovation and passion to work towards sustainable water and sanitation solutions. Head over to worldwaterrace.org to learn more.
