Mexico City, Mexico – Technological University of the Mixteca was named the Enactus Mexico National Champion during the one day competition held at the Banamex Convention Center in Mexico City.

The team showcased a variety of impressive community outreach projects that ranged from helping marginalized women turn their artwork into a business that has generated $15,000 in sales, to a fruit dehydrating venture that uses solar energy to make its products and an effort that is using urban waste to create sustainable recycling jobs.

This is the second year the team will represent Mexico at the Enactus World Cup.

This year’s event also included several keynote speakers including Lorenzo Servitje, Grupo Bimbo; Jesus Gonzales, KMPG; and Arturo Damm, business and economics specialist.
During his speech, Servitje discussed leadership and how business leaders cannot take credit for the work that is only made possible by many in an organization. He also stressed the importance of social entrepreneurship and the role of business in today’s economy.

A special thank you goes to Grupo Bimbo for being the event presenting sponsor as well as the 27 newspapers, two radio stations, four business magazine and two television stations that covered the event.
