Bishkek, Kyrgyzstan – With 10 competing teams, this year’s Enactus Kyrgyzstan National Competition was marked by notably high levels of enthusiasm and an even more impressive showcase of innovative projects.

It was efforts such as Rising Textile – a project that worked with local industry to create sporting equipment from recycled materials – that helped the Institute for Integration of International Education Enactus team capture the National Champion title. This project alone saved 27 tons of materials from landfills and helped to generate jobs for 21 seamstresses.

The IIIEP Enactus team also took the National Champion title in 2011 and represented Kyrgyzstan at Enactus World Cup, which was held that year in Malaysia.

“It was truly amazing to see how much these students have made it their personal mission to make a contribution to this world and really help those around them,” says Zharkynai Talantbekova, Enactus Kyrgyzstan Country Leader.

More than 360 people attended the event, including Stanislav Karpovich, chairman of the Enactus Kyrgyzstan board of directors. Karpovich delivered the keynote speech, where he discussed the opportunities available under the new Enactus brand and the benefits of interacting with the ambitious youth involved in the organization.

Also contributing to this year’s successful competition, were event sponsors Kumtor Gold, Coca-Cola Bishkek Bottlers, Silk Road Investments, Kinds Bar, Club Hotel and Ayu Company.
