There is nothing quite like an Enactus World Cup: thousands of students, faculty and business leaders who share a vision for a better world and understand the power of entrepreneurial action, coming together for three days to celebrate, collaborate and learn from each other.
One of the event components where the learning is deepest is during our two Action Leaders Forums, the first of which takes place at 4:30 pm on Thursday, 23 October and the second the following day at 1:00 pm. The forums, open to all event attendees, will be moderated by Lord Michael Hastings, Global Head of Citizenship, KPMG International. On each day, a panel of global business leaders will share their opinions and ideas with the Enactus network, providing a unique opportunity to learn from their experiences. What sets these events apart is that they move away from the theoretical and challenge our panelists to provide tangible references and examples of how their company is innovating and taking meaningful action in important focus areas.
The result will be a rich, action-oriented discussion that covers a range of some of the most timely and pressing issues facing our world and in doing so, help Enactus members know where they should be focusing their outreach efforts and how they can innovate to achieve maximum impact.
The discussion for both sessions will focus on driving sustainable, social change through innovation and the creation of shared value. Each panelist has been asked to choose two or three topics that their company or organization is passionate about and where they are focusing efforts to affect real change. Some of the topics you can expect to hear about include unemployment, women’s economic empowerment, education, environmental sustainability, food security, and bridging the digital divide.
For our first forum, we are honored to have the following distinguished executives serving as panelists:
- Doug McMillon, President and CEO of Walmart Stores, Inc.
- William Wang, Founder and CEO of Vizio
- Tom Gorman, CEO of Brambles
- Roza Otunbayeva, Former President of Kyrgyzstan.
Our second forum will include:
- Kees Kruythoff, President of Unilever NA
- Kent Wong, Managing Director, Chow Tai Fook
- Arthur Wei, CMO of Lenovo China
With such diversity of industry, geography and backgrounds, the forums are sure to be both informative and inspiring.
Can’t make it to Beijing? Not to worry, you do not have to miss out on this amazing experience. Both plenary sessions will be a part of our World Cup Live initiative, which you can access from the World Cup section of our website. There, you will be able to access the live steam of the forums and other events, as well as video footage, photos, league pairings and competition results.
Whether you will be watching live or after the fact, be sure to share your thoughts and ideas with us on social media using #EnactusWorldCup. And keep your eyes open for questions and polls about the forums – we want to hear from you!
