Running through 30 September, a total of 3,500 student, academic and business leaders from around the world have gathered in Toronto for the Enactus World Cup. The event is one of the biggest university business innovation competitions in the world.
Held annually, the Enactus World Cup is a show of excellence featuring entrepreneurial projects for social impact from university students around the world. Enactus is a community of student, academic and business leaders committed to using the power of entrepreneurial action to transform lives and shape a better, more sustainable world. “My grandfather Nelson Mandela first visited Toronto just four months after his release from 27 years of imprisonment,” says Swati Dlamini, “It is a pleasure to come to Toronto and encourage the work for quality education and equality that both my grandfather and grandmother stand for. Opening remarks by Dr. Alvin Rohrs, outgoing President and CEO, Enactus, include a message about his time with the organization. “I’m so proud of our work and the global growth we have experienced in my 34 years with Enactus,” says Alvin Rohrs. “The Enactus World Cup is a collective celebration of our achievements. I’m confident in our strong leadership team and excited about the organization’s bright future and continued success.”
In addition to the intense competition, the Enactus World Cup features a session on the UN Global Goals, innovation stations, cultural collaborations, and an action leader panel addressing the future of food and water sustainability.
Enactus World Cup is presented by KPMG, who helped bring the event to Toronto.
